Onion Pesarattu


Pesarattu is whole moong dal pancakes. This is one of the Authentic recipes of Andhra Pradesh, India.The pancakes are usually topped with onions or plain pancakes stuffed with a small portion of Upma.The Upma version is known as MLA Pesarattu :)

Serves 8 to 10 Pancakes

Category - Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Whole Moong Dal - 2 Cup
Urad dal - 1/2 cup
Rice flour - 4 tbsp
Green Chillies - 3 to 4 finely chopped (Adjust according to taste)
Onion - 1 finely chopped
Oil - couple of tsp
Salt to taste
Baking soda - a pinch

Soak the moong dal as well as the urad dal overnight separately. Drain the water and add the soaked dals to the blender and blend to smooth batter. To this add a pinch of baking soda n salt to taste.

Mix the chopped onions n chillies and place it in a cup.

Heat a griddle / flat pan, pour a ladle full of batter n spread it as Dosa. Top it with the onion mixture and add a tsp of oil around the edges. Flip to the other side n fry till golden brown (on both sides).

Serve hot with some Ginger Chutney / plain yogurt / Coconut chutney.
