This recipe was prepared by my grand mother and passed on to my mom. I learnt this from my mom recently. This can be prepared for breakfast, snack or dinner.
Serves 8 to 10 Dosas
Category - Breakfast / Dinner
Rice - 1Cup
Toor / Tur Dal - 1/4Cup
Urad dal - 1tsp
Methi seeds / fenugreek - 1/4tsp
Red Chillies - 6 to 8 (Adjust to taste)
Black Pepper corns - 1
Curry leaves - 10
Dhaniya / Coriander Seeds - 1tsp
Jeera / Cumin - 1/4tsp
Salt to taste
Baking Soda - 1/4tsp
Soak Rice, fenugreek & the Dals separately for 8 to 10 hours.
Add the drained & soaked rice & the dals in a blender / grinder and blend the mixture by adding little water. Add red chillies, black pepper, curry leaves, dhaniya & jeera also to the blender when the rice mixture is blended half. Grind the mixture to smooth dosa consistency batter. Transfer the mixture to a big container and keep it covered overnight.
Once the batter is fermented and ready to make dosas, add the salt & baking soda. Mix the batter throughly and make dosas as usual.
Variation - You can add chopped onion, grated carrots & chopped coriander to the batter & later make dosas. (Refer the picture below).
